Started in 2016, Our Chicken Story is a non-profit organisation that helps feed people in need by working with community leaders and organisations. Through our project, we harness the strengths of the community to help them not only feed themselves but also start small poultry businesses. This has led to increased protein consumption and more income for both our community partners and the families involved.

OUR APPROACH
We spent the first few years finding a method that works. It had to be low-cost, so villagers wouldn’t fall into debt and that we are able to give out free of charge, sustainable, meaning they wouldn’t need to buy expensive chicken feed (which makes up about 70% of the running cost), and fast, using the existing community resources. The project can be set up in just one day.
In September 2021, we launched a pilot project in Dan Koum Village, Cambodia, with 49 villages. After the success of this pilot, we have expanded the project to 9 other villages in Cambodia and Thailand.
